The MINI allows you to basically sit on the floor, which is good

500tw Hankooks aren’t too happy when you autocross them. The Mini will still tripod even in the damp though.

In other news, I could really use some new brakes. Right now they are a bit worn and leave a lot to be desired at an AutoX. With a very fast event coming up I need to upgrade them. What does Oppo like for a high performance street/AutoX brake pad? I’m currently looking at Hawk HPS or EBC yellow stuff but am open to ideas.

On my r53, I put brembo rotors with hawk pads. Loved it

Hawk HPS’s have been good to me on both the TA and the Miata. Surprisingly quiet with less brake dust than the non performance pads I had before. Total win win in my book.

Get you some RE71R’s for goodness sake.

On my Prelude I have HP Plus pads on the front and HPS pads on the back. They work extremely well.

Some RE71Rs are coming, I have to kill the current tires first though.

HAWK HPS make less dust you say? That sounds good as I put my summers back on about 1000 mi ago and they are already plastered in dust.

I’m running the EBC Yellow Suff and EBC premium rotors. Excellent daily driver behavior (even in sub-zero temps, which I couldn’t say of the factory pads), and when you get some heat into them they really come alive and bite like mad. I haven’t been able to get them fade-y in non-track use. Very affordable too. The only real downside is they make dust like a son-of-a-bitch.

I installed Hawk HPS yesterday on the Mini. While they are better then the stock brakes, they seem to bite later than the stock pads. They also seem to make the pedal more mushy; maybe I have air in the system...

What did you end up deciding? I’m debating the same thing at the moment in a car with similar weight.

I’m still on the stock pads for now. I’m probably going to destroy them on track on Wednesday and am starting to think that I am going to go with the Hawk HP+ or HPS to replace them.
